(Craigvale) Home of Alice Young & Family when she first kept her Diary from 1902 to 1905. Painted by William's cousin May Palmer. This photo was taken in 1910. In the early 1900s it was the home of Alice Young's in-laws. Alice and her family moved there from across the road in September 1905. She died in this house in December 1907. Later, Alice's son William Young inherited the farm. Two of William's 3 children were born here, one of them being my My father was born on the kitchen table in this house and several years late...

No One Can Help You Die

Alice Rebecca Maneer Young 1873-1907 - jim Young and Alice (Maneer) Young poem circa 1905-1907 "There is so much bad in the best of us, And so much good in the worst of us. That it hardly becomes any of us, To speak evil of the rest of us.” Feast and your halls are crowded. Fast and the world goes by. Succeed and give will help you live, But no one can help you die. I found this poem in a photo album/scrap book that my paternal grandfather received from Santa in 1905 when he was 7 years old. Judging from some other writings in this book, it appears it was written by his mother. However I do not know if she created it or borrowed it from another source. Although it was undated, it had to have been written between December 1905 and December of 1907 when my grandfather’s mother died. It starts out with a humbling message and ends on kind of a morbid note. Has anyone ever seen this poem before or know anything about its origin? Toilet Seats - jim young The flush toilet, more than any other single invention has ‘civilized’ us in a way that religion and law could never accomplish. - Thomas Lynch Of all the conflicts in the so-called Battle of the Sexes, the dispute of the toilet seat has got to be the most ridiculous. And at the risk of  alienating myself from my fellow peers (pun intended) I will say this only once, "Come on guys - if it's that important to the ladies - PUT THE SEAT DOWN!" It's not that big of a deal for the guys to put the toilet seat back down after, but then in all fairness, why is it such a big deal for the ladies to put it down before? “Have you ever sat down on the toilet and fallen through because the seat wasn't down?" I have been asked, and I have to admit I have not. And this is a key point. Guys sometimes have to sit down too and there must be times when either he or someone else has left the seat up. But does he complain? No. Does he fall through? No. So ...
