According to at least one definition, “free enterprise” is described as “a component or specific type of capitalism that emphasizes a truly free and competitive market with minimal government intervention.” “Capitalism” on the other hand can be defined as “the broad economic system of private ownership of the means of production and the drive for profit that exists with varying degrees of government control.” And again, if I had more faith in our government to properly govern capitalism, I would believe much more strongly in capitalism as well. We need to put more pressure on retailers and our government to demand clarity in labelling. I recently learned that "Compliments" products, marked "Prepared for Sobeys" indicate the product was “Made In Canada". When it is marked "Imported for Sobeys" I think it’s pretty obvious the goods were made abroad. But if it is marked " Produced for Sobeys" which is a subtle difference from " Prepared for..." the goods were also made abroad. It seems to me that this distinction is purposely being used to deceive the consumers. Otherwise, why not just say “Imported for Sobeys”? Sobeys is hoping I don’t know the difference and they don’t want me to suspect they are importing goods from the U.S.  I find it a little insulting that ...

The man who wrote “Art of the Deal” and insists he is the best dealmaker in the world; the man who bragged he could end the Russia-Ukraine War on Day ONE of his presidency, emerged three hours later, with still no ceasefire in place. He had ONE job to do and he failed it miserably. NOW Trump is trying to sell the idea that it’s better to skip the ceasefire process and go right for the ultimate goal - peace.  This of course was Putin’s idea. Putin doesn’t want a ceasefire and if compelled to agree to a ceasefire, will never honour it anyway. But where have we heard that before?   - jim Young As per the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), Sections #36 & #37, President Trump is ineligible for entry to Canada based on his criminal record. Mr. Trump has been convicted of sexual abuse, and 34 counts of fraud in the United States. However, the IRPA provides for exceptions and special circumstances that can be taken into account. President Trump is a World Leader who is scheduled to attend the G7 Summit to be held in Kananaskis, Alberta beginning June 13. Special consideration will undoubtedly be a factor in the decision to determine if Mr. Trump is eligible to enter Canada. Canadian Law, however, was not written with the intent of providing exceptions except where warranted. - jim Young “Democracy in the contemporary world demands, among other things, an educated and informed people.” - Elizabeth Bishop Conservative Supporters Go MAGA I don’t think it’s a stretch to suggest that just one of the reasons that Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives succumbed to Mark Carney and the Liberals in the recent Canadian Federal Election, is that too many Canadians, right or wrong, perceived Mr. Poilievre’s agenda to be too closely aligned with President Trump and MAGA. Now it seems that some of Mr. Poilievre’s supporters are suggesting that one of the causes for the loss was election interference. Sound familiar? I hope we are not going down that road which will only serve to further strengthen the belief that Mr. Poilievre and the Conservatives have aligned themselves with Trump and MAGA too closely.
