"Cocktails for Two" - Recipe Ingredient Lists

Image
"Cocktails for Two Belly up to the Bar" Downloads Below (coming 2025) Here's a shopping list for the ingredients you will need to make at least one of every recipe for every drink and treat you will find in my new book "Cocktails for Two" scheduled for release in 2025. There are two lists, one for shopping at the LCBO / Liquor Store and one for items that you can pick up at most grocery stores. The lists may look a little overwhelming to begin with, but upon examination you will likely discover you already have many of the ingredients on hand, particularly those ingredients included on the Grocery Store List. Due to pack sizes you will be required to purchase, you should also take into consideration that most items will leave you with sufficient ingredients to make more than just one drink. For that reason you should consider carefully your purchases for items like fresh fruit or items that have a shorter shelf life. Unless you intend to make everything in the b...

Sobeys Denies Canadians The Freedom Of Choice

Image
- jim Young “In my firm we dealt in lies. Advertising is that… the skilful use of the truth to mislead, to spoil, to debase.” - Storm Jameson Does is say "Prepared for..." or "Produced for..."? We need to put more pressure on retailers and our government to demand clarity in labelling. I recently learned that "Compliments" products, marked "Prepared for Sobeys" indicate the product was “Made In Canada". When it is marked "Imported for Sobeys" I think it’s pretty obvious the goods were made abroad. But if it is marked " Produced for Sobeys" which is a subtle difference from " Prepared for..." the goods were also made abroad. It seems to me that this distinction is purposely being used to deceive the consumers. Otherwise, why not just say “Imported for Sobeys”? Sobeys is hoping I don’t know the difference and they don’t want me to suspect they are importing goods from the U.S.  I find it a little insulting that ...

Putin Played Trump - Again

Image
- jim Young “ All war is a symptom of man’s failure as a thinking animal.” - John Steinbeck Right up until the time Trump met with Putin on August 15, Trump insisted he would demand an immediate ceasefire between Russia and the Ukraine from Putin. The man who wrote “Art of the Deal” and insists he is the best dealmaker in the world; the man who bragged he could end the Russia-Ukraine War on Day ONE of his presidency, emerged three hours later, with still no ceasefire in place. He had ONE job to do and he failed it miserably. NOW Trump is trying to sell the idea that it’s better to skip the ceasefire process and go right for the ultimate goal - peace.  This of course was Putin’s idea. Putin doesn’t want a ceasefire and if compelled to agree to a ceasefire, will never honour it anyway. But where have we heard that before? Almost five months ago, on February 28, Zelensky patiently explained all that to Trump in the Oval Office.  Meeting in Oval Office with President Zelenskyy an...
