- jim Young “It’s not intentions that matter. It’s actions. We are what we do and say, not what we intended to do.” - anon From the start, organizers of the Truckers Convoy that is arriving in Ottawa this weekend, have been very clear that they are not opposed to Covid Vaccines, they are only opposed to Covid Vaccine Mandates. And that’s pretty much all this protest is about or should be about. I would expect the organizers likely anticipated and were prepared for criticism from the opposition and knew well they might even be subject to union busting tactics and other immoral attempts to discredit their cause. But it’s the damage from well intentioned supporters that likely hurt them the most. While most of these people truly support the trucker’s protest, they often can’t help furthering their own agendas in the process. This protest is not about media blackouts, supply shortages, overthrowing the government or anything else but one peaceful demonstration with one single purpose. Le...

- jim Young “Dare to believe in the reality of your assumption and watch the world play its part relative to its fulfillment.” - Neville Goddard Sorry if I got your tits in a knot with my meme. I was just trying to get your attention. But while we’re on the subject, pictures of empty shelves began appearing on Facebook, blaming the shortages on the Trucker’s Vaccine Mandate almost before the chain reaction had time to take effect. And it didn’t help that photos like the first one, which claimed to be of a store in one location, would later be exposed as being from another unknown location. So who’s to know if it was even relevant to the story? The second photo I purposely selected for this demonstration because it shows a grocery store in the UK taken LAST SUMMER. So it certainly has nothing to do with either the trucker’s vaccine mandate OR the trucker’s convoy. And on another note, if the first picture even is a legitimate representation of the trucker’s vaccine mandate, all it says...

- a message from jim Young For the most part, for personal reasons, I have made it a habit not to submit more than one article each month to the Great North Arrow. (There have been a couple of exceptions to this rule where circumstances have warranted it.) However I am breaking my self imposed rule for this edition that is only available online due to the pandemic. I remember years ago when 8-tracks were becoming popular, reading an article about Rod Stewart. At the time vinyl records were often filled with “extras” and packaged with liner notes that included biographies, lyrics to the songs, background on the making of the record or photographs of the band. Sometimes LPs were packaged in Gatefold Covers (a folded double cover). None of this packaging was available during production of 8-tracks. Rod Stewart felt his fans that purchased his albums on 8-tracks were being cheated so, to make up for it, he included an extra song to be included on the 8-track version of his albums that was...

- jim Young “Betty Botter bought some butter, but she said this butter’s bitter. If I put it in my batter, it will make my batter bitter. But a bit of better butter will but make my batter better. So ‘twas better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter.” - anon I have suffered chronic back pain for many years. Chiropractic, physio, cortisone shots, electric acupuncture - nothing has proved to bring me much lasting relief. I am not too keen to undergo surgery which my doctor has suggested might be my last resort. I have grown tired of trying home remedies from herbal teas to standing on my head that have been recommended by well meaning friends, but when it was suggested that cannabutter might be the answer, I decided to give it a try. If it didn’t work, at least I might enjoy a good high and as I had all the ingredients on hand anyway, all I needed was a recipe. Whereas Google will usually provide me with an adequate traditional recipe, I opted to search for a recipe for Cannab...

- jim Young “Should five percent appear too small Be thankful I don't take it all 'Cause I'm the taxman” - George Harrison Quebec is proposing a tax on unvaccinated people to help cover the health care costs of anyone who refuses to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Cries of “infringement of rights” and “unconstitutionality” are already being heard, and that’s okay with the Quebec government. They’ve already checked out the likelihood of this tax being overturned by the Supreme Court. Government lawyers are already on it and let’s face it. They can afford more lawyers than the average group of unvaccinated protestors that might actually fight it. In fact, they’re counting on the uproar. Let the people spew their frustrations as it is quickly passed into law and the dust will eventually settle. The problem is, there are precedents for a law like this that will likely help it pass. My concern is not so much with the precedents already in place as it is for that one more prec...
