What Is Love? - jim young Happy Valentine’s Day to the lighting bolt I had been waiting all my life for - My Shirley. “I thought Love was only true in fairy tales…” Neil Diamond I could have written that. Assuming I was as brilliant as Neil Diamond, that is. What I mean is - "Love was out to get me, that’s the way it seemed. Disappointment haunted all my dreams.” Okay – I’ll stop plagiarising Neil Diamond now. It's just that "I'm A Believer" so perfectly described my Love life as a teen. Everyone had girlfriends - except for me. And, being the romantic I have always been, I so desperately wanted to be in Love. Sure there were girls that I dated. And they were all very nice. But I was looking for that lightning bolt that was going to knock me off my feet. We can no more “choose to Love” than we can “choose NOT to Love”. - jim Young "I'll be your baby tonight." - Bob Dylan Trump supporter Kid Rock was recently called to task for inappropriate lyrics from his song “Cool, Daddy Cool.” The message is pretty clear. “Young ladies, young ladies, I like ‘em underage, see, Some say that’s statutory but I say it’s mandatory.” I don’t think there’s much room for interpretation there. The context is pretty clear. Of course MAGA, being as unimaginative as they are, were quick to follow up with one of their favourite “oh yeah, what about…” deflections to accuse Bruce Springsteen of inappropriate lyrics from his song “I’m On Fire”. “Hey, little girl, is your daddy home? Did he go away and leave you all alone? I’ve got a bad desire, Oh, oh, oh, I’m on fire.” Keep in mind, the complaints about this last song are coming from the same group of people that objected to radio stations banning, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”.
